What are veterinary students doing to help homeless pets? Plenty!
Students at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine are the backbone of Helping Hands Pet Rescue, Gainesville’s largest pet rescue organization.
Putting what they’re learning into practice, they’re rehabilitating sick and injured animals, organizing spay/neuter clinics for shelter pets, hosting adoption events, and placing hundreds of cats and dogs in new homes.
Last year, student Lindsey Hidenrite (class of 2018) spoke to other students on how they can help homeless pets while honing their own veterinary skills with hands-on experience.
